Crust Digester
Powdered bacteria-and-enzyme product used during barn washout to soak into and break down manure crusts.
Crust Digester is the powdered version of PitCharger's basic bacteria-and-enzyme approach. It is used during barn washout: applied to manure crusts and allowed to soak into that material, helping break down the dried, compacted organic matter so it is easier to wash out and remove.

The problem it solves
Washout is where a crust costs you time. Dried, compacted manure on floors, slats, and pit edges does not rinse off; it has to be worked loose, and every hour of scraping and pressure washing is labor at exactly the point in the cycle when you want the barn turned around.
The material is dense for a reason. It is fiber and organic matter that dried in place and packed down, sometimes over more than one turn. Water alone slides off it.
Crust Digester is made for that specific job. It is not a monthly pit treatment; it is a washout product.
How it works
Crust Digester is the powdered version of the same basic bacteria-and-enzyme approach used in LTC-E. During washout it is applied to manure crusts and allowed to soak into that material.
As it soaks in, it helps break down the dried, compacted organic matter so it is easier to wash out and remove.
The simple distinction: LTC-E is the liquid product for ongoing treatment of high-fiber manure. Crust Digester is the powdered product used during washout to soak into and break down manure crusts.
What results look like
Crust that has soaked with Crust Digester is easier to wash out and remove than dried, compacted material that was only hit with water.
How much soak time it needs depends on how dry and how thick the crust is. We will talk through timing for your washout routine on the call.

Dosing and shipping
Crust Digester is sized by the area and the crust being treated rather than by head count, and the soak time depends on how dry and how thick the material is. Tell us about your washout routine on the call and we will set the amount and timing with you.
PitCharger ships by UPS, Spee-Dee Delivery, and LTL freight, depending on the size and destination of the order. Auto-Ship is available for customers who want scheduled monthly delivery. Most producers notice a difference within the first month; significant results are normally measured after about six months.
Crust Digester questions
Is Crust Digester a monthly pit treatment?
No. It is a washout product. It is applied to manure crusts during barn washout and allowed to soak in. For ongoing monthly treatment of high-fiber manure, LTC-E is the liquid product.
How long does it need to soak?
It depends on how dry and how thick the crust is. We will walk through timing for your washout routine on the call.
Can I use it with a pressure washer?
Yes. Apply it, let it soak into the crust, then wash out as you normally would. The point is to make the compacted material easier to move.
Is it safe around animals?
PitCharger products are described as safe around cattle, horses, pets, children, and vegetation.
